Most Expected Features of Google Caffeine
Probably the entire community involved in the search engine industry is expecting eager the new Google Caffeine, announced to be launched after the holidays. It's already the end of January and there is no sign that the new features are active, even if some web developers and Internet marketer indicated at mid-January that several databases are using the new search engine. However, there is no prove yet that this rumors have a real base and probably Google will make an officially announcement where comes the big moment. A possible reason for this delay could be the hacker attack against Google from several weeks ago, supposed to be scored by China.
Most SEO companies and professionals have stopped the development of new projects or turned the already initiated ones into a latent phase because nobody really knows which will be the new important features of Google Caffeine. There are available lots of speculations, yet no serious developer can work on this kind of premises and until isn't happening something concrete the search engine market remains frozen.
But which would be the features that would make happy the hard-worker and fair developers and which changes are expected with fear by people using black-hat tricks to cheat the search engines? Let's see!
In the last 2-3 years many used the power of incoming links to increase artificially the importance of a web site and on the market showed up plenty of "SEO experts" that promised (and frequently obtained) fast and amazing results, including position 1 in SERP for any key word! This guys made nothing else as building hundreds and thousands of links with the same text-anchor to a web site that was pushed to the top of searching results. Companies with big money took advantage immediately and on the SEO market bloomed this approach of search engine optimization. Google was part (even if involuntary) in turning the Internet into an authoritarianism of million-dollars companies! The rumors about the new search engine announce that the high number of incoming links will not play anymore a serious role in obtaining high rankings and rather the quality of the linking sites will be more important. Hopefully Google understood this negative part of link building campaigns and this rumor will transform in reality.
A another subject of the common talks is the importance of the content. Many say the content will be the new king of the search engine optimization factors. Until now it played a role in obtaining good ranks, but mostly due to the keywords density, not due to the quality of information. It seems that this will happen in reality because most SEO professionals observed since several months that keywords density has no more big importance and the keywords pattern on a page really matters! The very good news is that probably the entire content quality of a web site (the so called "Over-All Page Quality") will play a major role, so developers who used keywords stuffing and duplicate content (usually stolen from other sites or reproduced from article directories) will get no more any good result!
The third major change in discussion (possible the most important) is the real-time feature. Some say that Google will be able to provide the latest news in minutes because their staff understood the high importance of fresh information. All developers know how frustrating was (and it is yet!) to add new content to a site (particularly building new pages) and after that waiting for weeks or months until the search engines find it, analyze it and show it in SERP. If Google Caffeine will be able to include in search results the latest news (this meaning probably even the latest changes in indexed web pages) then the searching giant will transform into the best machinery of the 21st century and win definitively the competition with Yahoo! and MSN! The reason is quite simple - all people love to be updated with the latest news, so they will use Google.
There are several other changes supposed that will be introduced by Google like how fast loads a site (Google's engineers observed that pages which not loading fast are abandoned immediately by Internet surfers), presence in social media (most people heard about the deal between Twitter and Google), the domain age (the older sites will be no more favored and the new ones will have a fair chance to compete), the number of broken links (this plays already a role in analysis) and the bad neighborhood. The last one is also already in use, but probably its importance will increase, being connected with the practice of building thousands of incoming links.
Expectations of all people dealing with SEO, SEM, and generally with web development are huge, but remains to see how many and in which percent the speculations referring to Google Caffeine will turn in reality.
